Where do I mount a depth finder {really a fish finder} thats both out of the way and easy to see on my 1974 Oday22. Thank Steve

Swing out mount

I would mount the unit on a swing out mount just inside the companionway. That way you can get it out of the way when not in use.Justin - O'day Owners' Web

I cut a 4" circle

I just installed a couple of Horizon 4" one depth and one speed. I used a hole saw and put them both to the left of the companionway. They look great. The transducers are under the V-berth . I made cut outs so I can see and service the transducers , and also made separate compartments for each so the foam flotation is separate . Lots of work.

Shoot Through the hull

I installed a depth finder on my O'Day 25 forward of the keel under the V-Birth. You can test the signal by placing the transducer in a plastic bag of waterand laying the sending unit side down on the hull.
