depth finder replacement or repair

I purchased a used 1985 25.5 several years ago. The "SR" depth finder worked well until about 4 years ago. I shipped it back the the manufaturer in New York I believe and it was "rebuilt" and worked great for to last few years. Now it's down again. Was this factory equipment? Is there a replacement that fits in the original hole and works without replacement of the transducer? (I thinks it's still good) Or what would be your recommendation? Thanks for your help.

If there is a five inch hole in the bulkhead, both Moor Electronics and Signet Marine make unit that will fit exactly. I have the same boat, but decided to to go with an Autohelm bi-data. They make a round one, but it is only a 4" dia.. I have seen upgrades on older sailboats where they installed new instruments onto a teak board that covered the old hole.
