Depth Finder ideas? Can I shoot thru the Hull? Where?
It's me again.
I need a Depth Finder...
On my previous boat I was able to wax toilet ring in the transponder and it shot the signal through the hull and it worked fine... I wonder where I can place a transponder to shoot thru the hull and not into the water tank? I looked at the Manual and really can't see where placement would be. I am thinking at the stern through the starboard hatch under the cockpit "may" be a suitable spot?
The P O has removed the display from what I assume was a 1996 Nexus Silva depth finder/speed instruments. He said it was non functioning (the same as he was by not answering any questions I had and never returning any phone calls) The one display was switchable through wind speed, direction, depth, speed, but it really doesn't matter because there is no display... I saw one come up on ebay and missed it for $40.00... I would have bid higher, but I was to late... The next display came up went for $160 w/ no guarantee... Since then, nothing. I have looked for this unit and have not found it. Any replacements out there? The manufacturer has nothing that will work...
The computer and the sensors are in place and wired in but no display...
