Deodorizing unpainted fiberglass

Hi again,

Today I had the joy of pulling of the rotting vberth plywood on my O'day 22. Under the plywood were a few hundred bricks of Styrofoam and the remains of 4 or 5 mice and their nests. Long story short - the hull of the boat smells like a dirty hamster cage - can I safely use something on the fiberglass to neutralize the smell? Febreeze, Mr. Clean, etc. Also, it looks like any water that would get in that area drains to the bilge - is that correct?

One last questions, the boards were all rotten up front and I don't think there was a solid crossmember to brace the plywood in the vberth - how are they supposed to be supported?

can't speak to the structure of your boat model, but fiberglass shouldn't absorb odors. Simply scrub clean (get out of all the nooks and crannies) and let dry. Mild bleach solution and a stiff scrub brush should do the trick. Lingering odors are typicaly areas not reached.
