Once again it looks like we in the New Orleans area have dodged the bullet. Forecast is for us to get winds of 25 to 30 knots, and a tidal surge of around 3 feet. My heart goes out to those of you over in Fla. who are going to get hammered again. The second time in less than a year must seem like a very bad dream. All of you folks over east of here, may God be with you. I can only hope that you come through this with very little loss of property, and no one loses their life.

We both dodged the bullet.......

We here on the Alabama coast were slated to be a direct hit. Got my Hunter 31 anchored out the best I could and many prayers went up for its protection (amazing how close we get to our vessels). Dennis took a turn north at the last minute, diminished somewhat in strenght, and struck east of here in the Pensacola/Gulf Breeze area. Just recovering from Ivan, we were totally exasperated with the prospect of 3 weeks without power, gas lines, MRE's, back breaking work, and insurance claims. I can't describe the relief knowing that I'm sitting here in my air conditioned home, with my boat on it's mooring waiting to get back in its slip. God's speed to those of you in Dennis' path....oh how much worse it could have been.

Waiting to hear from my Mom

My Sister got evac'ed to my Mother and Fathers on Saturday morning. Haven't talked to them since Sunday morning early. Got friends who just got their roof finished from Ivan two weeks ago. Here we go again. Jim S/V Java

Yeah, but now here comes "Emily"!!! Our condo on the beach is fine, but don't know about the boat yet. Our marina had at least 4-6 ft above avg. storm surge and we were out of town. Haven't been able to talk to anyone re: damage in Massalina Bayou yet. Going to be a LONG summer...

Everyone is fine at my house

Mom and Sis reported lots of trees down, no power. Generator is working well. Dad just got the generator about three weeks ago to replace the one from Ivan. Will be waiting to see how the boating community made out. Jim S/V Java
