Is the stove fuel the same as denatured alcohol or do you have to use the specific stove alcohol

I think its the same thing

I use the stuff from West/Boat US, but think it's just denatured alchohol with a few aromatics added. See link. If I used a lot (I maybe use less than a quart per season) I'd probably buy the generic stuff at Home Depot or a similar place.

It's exactly the same thing. I get my denatured alcohol at Ace Hardware. Don't pay extra for "stove fuel."

If you read the label on a can of denatured alcohol "solvent" from the hardware store it will list "stove fuel" as one of its uses. I've used it for a couple of years now.

You want the purest alcohol, otherwise you will get smoke, and with smoke, soot. As long as its good quality alcohol it should be fine. We love our Origo unit, have the 2 burner cooktop/oven combo.
