I am shopping to replace my damaged delta anchor. I see on line a "delta style" anchor in 316 stainless steel, which is only about $150 more than the "real" delta in manganese steel. Does anyone have any experience with the "delta style" anchors in terms of holding power, durability, etc? Is there a true quality difference or am I just paying for the name?

It seems to be the latest craze: "Delta-style, Danforth-style, whatever-style". Obviouldy it maens a copy of the basic design, but materials and workmanship may not be the same quality as the original. Beneteau seems to use the Delta as what they supply on new boats. Stainless? This forum says stainless is not really all that strong, but that was in reference to some other item. Stainless is okay as long as it can air-dry. If you have the anchor down for an extended period, oxygen starvation may set in, causing problems- both cosmetic and physical later on. Stainless CAN pick up rust stains even though it may not be rusting itself. I have a CQR 35 on my B323. It's your money, you choice. Me, I'd stay away from stainless. It looks great and shiny new, but after repeated trips to the bottom of the bay... well...
