Deleting profile and posts

Is it possible to relinquish my username to the dustbin of history? Will my posts go with it?

We don't delete usernames just for that reason: the posts are re-assigned to "Guest." But if you're entering the witness protection program or have another compelling reason to delete your registration, we will change the username, remove all profile info, and lock the account. It's pretty much the same and having it gone, but the posts remain.
