Delco equivalant for Lucas starter?

Is the a delco or other manuf. replacement for the Lucas starter on an Ericson 35 Diesel engine? The body is stamped Lucas F 49 77; 5012. The front piece is stamped 54247500F

Replacement Starter

I don't know what engine you have on the 35 but I recently replaced the starter on my 26. It has a universal engine which is based on a Kubota block. I had trouble finding a marinized starter in a hurry so I went to a Kubota tractor dealer. Their associated parts department found me a suposedly an exact replacement aftermarket brand for around $120 versus $500 from most other sources I found. I replaced it and all is working fine. The only differences I found by the new starter veersus the old one were:1. a drip hole in the end bell on the original2. An epoxy coated coil on the original. I put a drain hole in the new one. This winter I will pull the new starter and coat the coil with epoxy and any other differences I find. A little trouble, but good savings and a learning experience.Bob

Low Cost Starters

my starter was markedon the frony surface...the one that is flat against the bell housing when the starter is mounted on the engine...only 2 bolts to take the starter off.Marking was the Mitsubihi three diamond pattern and a bunchof numbers304816Z1915852-6301-1I gave theses to the girl at the parts counter and she looked up the ross reference. The new starter was by an aftermarket manufacturer but looked as good as the original. probably built to original drawings. My solenoid had been replaced and is from a big Brazillian manufacturer.The place I got the part from is Bacon's Equipment, Williamsburg, MA. 413 268-3620.Make sure to ask for the parts counter.Good luck.
