This summer the Yanmar 30 on my O'Day 37 has flooded with water twice while sailing. The first time we left it in gear and I asume the water pressure on the prop turned the engine slowly resulting in the water pump drawing in water. The next time it was left in neutral and the same thing happened. Some people say it should be left in gear in "reverse". Aside from closing off the intake valve or locking the shaft every time we sail, is there anything else we should be doing? This can't be good for the engine.Has this happened to other 37 owners?
