What is (if any) the issue regarding deisel fuel in metal cans. I saw a posting about not doing this, but never saw why. I know that for safety sake of not comingling fuels, you must have diesel in yellow containers (red for gasoline). I've seen only yellow "plastic" containers but none metalic

Doubt it!

Jim: I doubt that this is the issue. The tank in a vehicle is metal. Many boats have metal tanks. As far as there not being any metal containers for diesel, I really do not have an answer.

diesel cans

The metal cans are often coated with zinc (galvanized) on the inside. Not a problem with gas but something in the diesel reacts with the zinc and will clog the injectors. Nearly ruined a diesel tractor once. Haven't tried it again. If you could find a can that was not galvanized you shouldn't have a problem. Kent S/V Giggles

Thanks Kent!

Kent: That is good information. What did they do before all of the plastics that we have now. I suppose they made yeller cans without zinc! duh!
