Do you celebrate the holidays with your boat? Lights on the halyards, a wreath on the bow, ribbons on the lifelines? Do you participate in any Christmas cruises or other parade-like events? Or maybe you stuff a turkey in the pressure cooker and celebrate the big day itself aboard? Tell us how you bring the holidays to your boat, then take the Quick Quiz on the home page.

Xmas Visit

Trav'ler is on the hard in the winter. I have moved to be closer to her - she is only 5 minutes away, so I will go down to the yacth club and check her bilge, check the jack stands, and pat her hull for a little while. In the past I was too far to visit on Christmas Day. I plan to buy her a new mainsheet as a present, since the old one is showing the years.

Getting together

In our northern neck of the pond boats come out by November 1st and are out and in lay-up until May. But we are fortunate to be members of a great sailing club - which is more of a social club than a "racing" club. We have get-togethers throughout the "off" seadon and keep up with the goings-on of our members. We just had our "Holiday" party and had a great time! It's fun! Bill on STARGAZER

A new set of winter clothing....

... is my holiday gift to 'Grace'. She will be 'decked out' in the finest synthetic canvas cover, complete with new zippered opening and nylon strapping. Unfortunately, it is the same drab gray color as her last winter outfit, but maybe a color change is in her future! The last outfit was beginning to show the ravages of time. This new outfit is quite form fitting and I am sure she will get many looks from passersby! Merry Christmas to All!

On the Hard. Buttoned Up and Put Away - Too Cold!

Being from New England, there isn't much incentive to dress up the boat on a winter's day (even if it has been fairly warm). She has been buttoned up, and put away for the winter on the hard. It's too cold.

Can't Wait

Living where it gets cold ice and snow the boats are put away long before xmas we do enjoy all the houses that are really well decorated here in the north but I can't wait to move to Florida and watch the lighted boat parade and also call backup north when they get a snow storm and freezing their rear ends off,I have to be careful they don't come south and stay until the snow and ice melts,so quit rubbing it in about how you are still sailing and we are waiting for spring.
