Deck repair

I need to repair the deck under my stanchions. Cracks have developed and when it rains more water gets in the cabin than on the deck. Since this is my first time repairing the fiberglass, I was in need of some pointers. I plan to position stainless steel plates under the nuts and washers. Has anyone done this repair before?

Before youfix the stanchions you need to dry the core between the glass. If the water is leaking in to the cabin It means that your deck core has been soaking up water for a long time and needs to be looked at befor you seal and plate your stanchion .Some times you can pull the wet core out of a hole drilled under the stantion bace dry it out and replace it with epoxy and glass over the hole then drill out the holes and remount the stanchion .maybe have aglass man at the dock look and see how wet it is . good luck John
