I recently looked at a '84 O'Day 222 and it seems to have some damage to the deck near the base of rear, port leg of the bow pulpit. There is no visible damage to the deck from the out side, Inside I couldn't see much because of the cabin liner and it's not my boat so I couldn't pull it back.
The reason I think the fiberglass is damaged is the dull thud it made when rapping on it with a screw driver handle. There was a pronounced difference between the port and starboard rear ulpit legs, From the inside I could feel some irregularities. It was not smooth and uniform like the port side.
I don't know much about O'Day 222 construction. Is this an area where there is a wooden core, or is solid fiberglass? I have attached some photos -- the one from the outside is not the boat I looked at (I did get a good picture of the area) and highlighted the approximate area where I could hear the dull thud. The other photo is the area from inside the cabin.
