Does anyone have any info on replacing deck core material on a '77 Hunter 25'? The curved deck is not a mentioned issue in the Fiberglass repair book I have.

Haven't done it but.............

from my information there are a couple of things you can do. 1. Drill 3/4" holes in the non-skid area and fill with epoxy. 2. Another method is to cut the fiberglass layer out of the deck on the smooth gel coat area (not in the non-skid). This piece will be saved to put back after the core is replaced. The core material is usually small piece of balsa or whatever core material was used (this will sllow the area to be curved). R

I've done it

I had to recore a substantial amount of the deck on my 1974 model. I removed the rotten coring from the inside, the reverse of what is usually done, as interior skin was very thin and deteriorated. The coring will bend to accomodate moderate curves, its basically 1/2" cubes glued to a glass cloth. Many bolts and fender washers held the balsa up while the epoxy cured. Yes, epoxy bonds very well to hair and skin. Good luck.
