Ok, my girl has some oxidation. So, I polished and waxed the hull while she was out of the water, which really brought back the shine. Now I want to work on the deck and cockpit. The non slip areas show several colors where the PO had painted those areas.

My question is, when I polish to remove he oxidization, should I stay away from the non slip parts, or use the polisher to help remove some of the old paint and oxidation. I plan on re-painting the non slip parts eventually. I know that the non slip parts don't get waxed.

I used Woody Wax on my non skid areas and it really brought the color back. It's a little pricey but a little of it goes a long way. I even used it on the smooth areas between the non skid. It can be slippery if you get water on it immediately after using, but after it dries out it grips pretty well. I have often wondered if Sex wax, (not what you think) would work. When I was a kid we used to melt paraffin in a coffee can and pour it on. I wonder if applying sex wax or paraffin then heating it with a hot blow gun would work.
If you're going to paint the surfaces soon I wouldn't put anything on it. I would just live with it and then use TSP or Acetone with soft brush to clean before painting

Dr Zogg's Sex Wax will go to goo in the sun, same as it does on the surfboard.

I would repaint the nonskid areas with Interlux 'Interdeck' which has the gritty stuff already mixed in. They have many nice colors and it's very simple to apply.

So long as the wax is not silicone-based you will not have trouble getting the 'overspray' areas stripped sufficiently to get paint to stick. I would avoid PTEF products anywhere near the nonskid and stick to strong, basic cleaners and UV protection.
