Just bought a 30 year old boat with a lot of flaking paint on deck and in cock pit. Can anyone suggest least expensive type of paint to repaint decks and down below? Operateing on limited funds but need to repaint.

Interlux brightside polyurethane

worked well for me. They sell a one-part paint that you use right out of the can, or you can get their better (and more expensive) two-part system that you mix first. You should also get their brushing liquid and primer. They also sell grit that you can add for better footing on the deck. The biggest part of your job sounds like sanding. Even the most expensive paint won't last unless you get your old paint off first, sand to a smooth surface, and follow their preparation recommendations. With a good brush and careful masking, you should be able to make that boat look pretty good!

Brush?

Pete: Why brush this paint when you can use a sprayer? A sprayer is much faster and more even than brushing. And by the way, you don't have to remove all the original paint---just sand it down to a scuff. This acts like a primer. chris
