Deck Paint (Top Side)

Rob I had the same on my 76 27 hunter, the coach roof and deck had been painted with non skid RED paint.First objection i have with any dark color is heat from the sun, it makes bellow decks hotter than I care for.The rest of the boats gelcoat color is Off White,I found Interlux one stage polyurithane(color Hatteras Beigh)a perfect match to the original gelcoat clor.Hope this will help you.

Seattle Gray

Rob I am not sure if all Hunters had the same color scheme. I have a 1984 H37C which I have had since new so I know mine is original. I used Interlux, Brightside, Seattle gray color and it matched the original. I also added the interlux nonskid glass beads to the paint and it has worked very well. It is now in the 4th year, I think, without problems. It took longer to mask off the deck area than to paint it. I used a 4" roller and put on two coats. I cleaned it with the Interlux recommended cleaner before painting. Due to the old nonskid (mostly gone) I did not sand or do any other teatment other than cleaning. The effect of the new decks was amazing. It is well worth doing. Fair winds. Don

Is blue right?

That blue might be factory Rob. I see a lot of H27s that are a dark blue. Hard to figure that everyone would repaint with that color. If you want a factory original color you could call Hunter to see if they know. Or wait for more responses from other H27 owners. Like Don my H37C was originally Seattle Gray, a lighter gray. I redid some of it with Off-White and do not like the results, it shows too much dirt. Now I am considering beige using Interlux's Interdeck. I did the anchor locker cover and like the result. But the First Mate says go back to gray! I'll give you a deal on .9 of a quart of beige.

Deck paint color

Rob I redid the nonskid on my 76 H27 a few years ago and had some trouble matching the light grey color. Seattle grey looked more like blue than the original deck, as did white with varying amounts of black added. I finally hit on the right color by adding some black to the Interlux Hatteras white (it's actually beige). I added about 4 ml(~1 tsp) to a quart and got a good match whith the original. By the way I bought the boat in early 77 from the first owner so I'm sure it was the original color, certainly no red. Bill

Many changes in the Cherub 27

Ed is probably right (although I hate to admit it). Our 82 has a dark blue stripe and the 78 (I think) docked near us is light blue. I believe that earlier and maybe later models had double stripes and ours is a single. I have not attacked this subject in an organized manner but there were many changes from 75-84 (and I suppose some might have happened within the model year). For duplicating the cosmetic aspects Hunter might help or look at online photos of boat for sale. If it was something "mechanical" I would treat every Cherub as an individual and not put too much trust in published data. Andy "Baroque"
