I recently needed to replace the Deck Light and the Anchor Light on my 1992 Legend 35.5. After looking in the Archives it seemed that others were having the same issue in terms of determining the right bulbs. After a bunch of calls and research, (and my two required trips up the mast) I have finally replaced both bulbs and wanted to share the information with anyone who might need it. Anchor Light: I was able to Buy the anchor light off of the rack at West Marine. The Anchor light is for a "Series 25" housing West Marine SKU # 268359. It is a festoon type bulb. When you go up to replace it remember to take a wire brush since the contacts will be rusted. Deck/Spreader Light: This was tougher. I eventullay was able to special order a perko light from West Marine that worked. The Perko part # is 68-12V-20W and it is a halogen bulb. Hold on to your wallets though, the bulb with shipping was $ 32.00 After I had the new bulb in hand, (the deck light recapactle did not have a bulb in it when I bought the boat) I was able to compare it to off the shelf bulbs and found an Ancor brand bulb that is identical and costs $6-$7. The Ancor part # is 529337 Halogen Bayonet bulb. Good luck to all Alex

Aside to the bulbs - contacts

I was having trouble with my running lights going off and on, it was caused by the corrosion on the contact surfaces. I didn't want to rough them up much and asked around on the dock what would clean them off without making them rough. One of the women said to try lemon and a brush, I didn't think it would work but had the lemon and gave it a try. After about three brushings the conacts were like new - shiny bright. The acid in the lemon ate up the oxidization. Just a tip if you want to keep from using sandpaper. The running lights work great now, unfortunately the steaming light must have another problem a new bulb and shiny contacts won't fix.

Mr. Lopez: Thanks

..altho I just went through the same routine you did on my 40.5. In fact, the contacts were corroded and dirty. The bulbs were OK. I replaced them anyway because of the hassle factor. Was going to share the info here and lost the ID. You are smarter than I. See you sailing. Rick D.

Many thanks

Thank you Mr. Lopez, I was recently inspected by the Coast Guard and failed because of the anchor light is not working, now I will buy the proper bulb before heading up the mast. :)
