I found all of our leaks with a hose and a friend on our H34. Leaks in deck plates for water and waste (after 35 years), several port lites, a0 cracked anchor locker hose and one last most difficult one. Finally put a tarp over the companion way and the bilge was finally dry.

So just an update. The boat was hauled out over the winter went through a Wisconsin Winter with plenty of freeze thaw cycles. We spent our first couple of days aboard in steady rain and thunderstorms and I'm happy to day we had no leaks. Manitowoc Marina did a great job on the repairs.

Not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but if there are any updates I'd like to know.

We purchased a 2018 M-H 31 from Speciality Yachts in Vancouver ~ 6 months ago (November 2023). I knew about the fixed port leaking problems in these boats, so I checked for this carefully before purchase and found no sign of current or past leaks. And the broker professed ignorance of any such history in this boat, which they had maintained since new. But about a month ago I discovered small leaks on both sides. I had Quality Windows in Seattle remove what they called the “secondary seal” (the outer most seal) and then re-seal. The job looked great, but within 10 days I found one small leak on the port-side window nearest the head. Image attached. Where there’s one leak there will likely be more.

Not sure what to do at this point. I’m considering starting from scratch and buying new M-H 31windows from the Sailboat Owners Hunter store, which I probably should have done initially. Has anyone had experience with these new windows? Or any other advice.

thanks

Believe me, I’m tempted! I actually looked up Captain Tolley’s on Amazon yesterday, after reviewing this thread. Just seems too good to be true.

I’ve used it successfully on a couple of pesky leaks on 2 antique cars we own. Worked well but both are garaged and not subject to wild temperature swings which obviously exacerbate issues with metal frames, glass and fiberglass bonds.
