Deck leak

Hi folks I know this has been done before, but I'm looking for help locating a deck leak. It's on a 1985 Hunter 31, but I suspect experience of owners of various models might be pertinent. The water appears on the fabric lining the hull in the port quarter birth, aft of the nav station. It's obviously coming out from the seam of the headliner and the hull, but where would it be entering the deck? The leak must be higher than the seam, so that rules out the cockpit. The boat has a dodger, so there's no water coming in the hatch. I can't see how rain water could get in through the hull/deck join. There's no sign of water inside on the bolts of the jenny track, but I guess that if Hunter simply drilled through the deck/core and bolted the track down water might come in through the hole and spread out inside the liner. Suggestions?

Leak

Ian; You may also want to remove the port aft opening port. If you have a leak there, the water will travel towards the aft berth and seap down. Also, as we all know, the H31 has a slight starboard list so that would make it possible for any leak at the hull-deck joint to also travel towards the aft berth. Hope that may also help find the pesky leak. Mac

He recommended to place a box fan in the companionway' blowing into the boat. Seal the remaining area of the companionway with plastic, close all ports etc. and use soapy water to determine the origin of leak. As always using "E" around water requires a high level of safety. Kevin
