I have a 1982 Catalina 30 and my winch for my main halyard is to close to my dodger to use a rope block to hold halyard . Any suggestions

Do you mean there is no room for the clutch between the winch and the dodger.... in other words the winch is too far forward?
That was the issue on my boat, the winches were too far forward... so... I moved 'em back.

X2! Looks clean and loved.....Although I'm very happy with my C25, I wanted a C27 but couldn't find one in my budget....all the ones that were would have to be trucked and that cost blew the budget...
