Same Thing

I see the same thing on my 37.5. I think it is because the plastic hatch pressing on the rubber seal cannot hold back the water pressure of a wave on deck. I have thought that adding a second seal on the hatch that overlaps the existing seal might help. Or you can replace the hatches with "real" seaworthy hatches. Good luck, Jim "Prospect"

Meme probleme

Alain Jacques 819-669-5699

Yes you are right

I have the same problem with my hatch, it is leaking. I have a Hunter 28, 1989. I found it is because the gasket is flatenned out and the plexiglass is sat on the egde of the haul, not touching the gasket and making a good seal. I did phoned Hunter to get a new gasket and they sent to me a gasket which is empty in the center. Mine is full, 3/8" x 3/8". Prior to phone Hunter, I tought the leak was coming from underneath the gasket. I removed the gasket and redo the sealing, but it was not the problem. Mister Hugh McCully from Burlington( see Fore Hatch gasket ) found a gasket to is local marine store but he is not totaly satisfy. I will order this gasket and install it next spring. If it doens't work, my next solution is to install a real good hatch. It is a very poor design from Hunter and whish they would come up with a solution. Sorry about the quality of my english Alain Jacques
