Deck hardware for cockpit winches

I'm adding cockpit winches - Lewmar 30cst - and am interested in how others have routed the 110% jib sheets to them. Do I need to add another track on the deck? or use farileads aft to them. Doesn't seem to line up quite right. It's hard to single hand with just the 2 Lewmar 16s on the cabin top and an oversized wheel to get around. Thanks, Eric

In the Hunter manual..

..for the 29.5 they show the setup for running the jib sheets to the cockpit winches. It shows a bullet fairlead mounted above the two vertical ports. It works very well for me single handling and the cockpit Lewmar 16's are adequate even with an asymetrical. Why the 30's?

30s recommended by Hunter

The manual recommends 30s for an asymetrical and this was confirmed by a call to Hunter. May be overkill but can't hurt. I still don't understand the routing of the jib sheet. I think my issue is a dodger that is in the way of a direct run to the winch. I assume your 16s you speak of are at the rear cockpit position adjacent to the helm, yes?

Aft winches great

Check the photo forum of the 29.5 with the 150 genoa and aft winches. Same winches are used for asymetrical kite. You will love the aft winches when single handling the boat. (And so will the crew thats napping with their back against the cabin!)

Jib sheet route

Sounds like your dodger will need to be modified. It's a straight line from the pin stop jib leads to the aft winches with the sheets barely brushing the top of the cabin. The two speed Lewmar 30s would be better than the single speed 16s. Ours came with 4 16s and are just adequate and are near their limit when the winds pick up. I didn't know that Hunter recommended 30s.

Cockpit Winches

I added the cockpit winches to my 1998 H310 a couple years ago. On the starboard side I needed to add a cheek block on the outside of the arch to get around it and keep the sheet from over-riding. The port side lined up well from the track, but installed an upright lead on the cockpit coaming to eliminate over-rides. No changes were needed to the tracks or fair leads. It makes short handed sailing very easy, and now I only need to leave the wheel for mainsheet adjustments.
