beneteau 38 m dock
I have a 38m beneteau(1995)--the water fill caps have become worn, the top takes a tool that looks like a gear and that fits inside cap to remove. west marine didn't have a clue what I was talking about. any idea where I can replace these.

Bénéteau sells the whole unit: cap and receptacle together for 50$.

The part # is 129432 and fits most Bénéteau boats

Pierre;
thaks for info, I will give that a try. I had thought this was a common part available at West Marine, was surprised when they didn't know what I was talking about, should I be thinking about upgrading?

You might get the most basic of reference books- the West catalog- and find out what you are talking about. Page 541

I did see that page but none of those matched what I have, mine is an alum, cap with threads with a star type indent in cover, I guess I will stick with what I have, managed to get cover loose with chisel, will just have to keep not so tight. harbor master says there's a lot
of these capes on the bottom next to water fill up.

I believe I went through this last year. The cap you have is for a french brand that is not stocked traditionally by West Marine. I think they may have a cap that will fit it but to be safe I would order from Beneteau.

The aluminum deck fill & cap assembly is discontinued for the very reason you have discovered. This from Ward Richardson at Beneteau:

"The Beneteau Deck fills have recently changed. The old version aluminum fittings and parts for them are no longer available. They have been replaced by a new stainless steel version.

Deck fill water SS Part Number 129432
Deck fill diesel SS Part Number 129433
Deck fill waste SS Part Number 129436 Dia 50mm Hose
Deck fill waste SS Part Number 129435 Dia 38mm Hose"

My water cap is swimming with the fish next to the boat. A water deck fill assy cost roughly $55 delivered to my door.

And yes, the water and waste deck fills are designed to be opened with your winch handle or specialty wrench.
