Pearson 303.

The port side deck drain is not draining! Is there a valve somewhere that controls this or is it just clogged? Any help would be great.

Thanks.

If it is anything like my Pearson 30 then it is just blocked. Straighten out a coat hanger a poke all the crude out. But be carefull doing so.

On a 323...

I have the 323 and the deck drains have a 1 1/2" hose to a non valved through hull just above the water line. (Doesn't meet ABYC standards today.) Mine were very flimsy hoses and one was cracked when I got the boat. Be a little careful with your coat hanger and check the hoses. The through hull is close enough to the water line to get you in trouble if there's a leak.

We've done the water hose trick on the deck scuppers. Works like a charm (provided it's just a few pine needles/leaves and your scupper hose isn't... hosed). We also have occasional probelms with the sink drain in our head getting clogged. Did you know that a beer can coozie makes a great mini-plunger? Just place it upside down over the drain, cover the bottom with the palm of your hand, and push. You might want to put a small towel over the coozie/hand assembly before you push to reduce splash.
