Cherubini H33 a very good boat
The cherubini 33 is a good boat, capable and fast. Properly sailed it will never embarass. In December, I sailed my 79 H33 with a cold front from north side of Choctawhatchee bay out at Destin and in at Venice, about 350 land miles in only a bit over two days. The H33 has lots of good features. solid stainless steel rudder shaft, stainless rudder tube with packing nut, a good single handing cockpit arrangement, aft head that's really usable, good head room throughout, serious design features for offshore sailing like small cockpit, high companionway bridge, plenty of handholds in cabin and with galley, head and cabin spaces confined enough to wedge yourself in when necessary. there is even a very useful built in leeboard for the port cabin bunk. The folding rotating table works in about a half dozen different configuration to use the cabin and galley space to best advantage, the deck stepped mast is not prone to the structural problems common to some other deck stepped designs, all the toerail bolts are fairly easily accessible from below...it goes on and on. Any boat that old of course needs a good examination by a competent authority to determine physical condition and uncover problems. You can find out pretty anything you need to know by looking under boat information on this site for the H33 and by searching the archives. Link below is to a photo forum article about the deck core construction. From postings through the years, apparently the boat had somewhat different core sections depending on the particular year. In addition to edge grain balsa core, plywood coring was used, particularly under handrails and other structural attachment locations. A couple of the most useful things I have added to the boat is a waste holding tank and bow roller, both with articles in the Hunter photo forumOne of the neatest things about this boat is that though it certainly can be capable offshore, with a 47'-3" mast height it can also use inland waterways inaccessible to taller boats. I have owned bay horse about close to 8 years and like her better and better.
