I have repairs needed to be done to the deck gelcoat of 1984 Hunter. What is the best way to match the color? The deck color is off white. Are there premixed color for Marine-Tex or similar product?
Gel coat that is that old is difficult to match even if you are an expert. Suggest that you go ahead and make your repairs and prep the deck for painting. You can do it yourself or pay others to do that. If you do try to color match paticuraly white, it will stand out from the rest. Others on this forum can help you decide the best way to paint but first is this all over the deck or isolated in one area? Please advise and if in one area please post a photo.
Let us know what you decide to go with. I have a 85 25.5 and would like to freshen up the deck. Curious how newer color would look. I imagine anything that old would be unlikely to have the same color as originally after all the exposure.
Thank you for the advice! Here are some pics of the areas that need repair. Nothing major but a lot of minor spots. Bow, transom and cockpit benches. Some spiderweb cracks, too. There is also a soft spot starboard mid-deck.
