Does anyone know what color the deck of the 1978 23 is? I have repaired some small cracks with epoxy, and I want to paint over it to match. I thought white, or non-gloss white would do it, but it was too bright. Is it off-white, ivory or something else? I hate to keep buying quarts of expensive paint just to find out what will match. Thanks.

You'll have to match it

Bob - Paints vary batch to batch, and gel coats do too. The level of exposure will also varry from boat to boat and even on different parts of boats. You'll need to get pigments and match if you want exactness. Go to a paint store and get color chips that are close. Bring them to the boat to find the one that's right. Then go back to the store and ask for the formula they'd mix to make that color. Finally, get some untinted base for the deck along with the appropriate pigments, and mix up some paint. "Cheap" Paint Match

You have an older boat, don't be too fussy or it will drive you nuts. One of the easiest ways to match (not perfect) paint is to pick-up a bottle of auto touch-up paint. This works ok for small cracks. Good Luck!
