Just bought an H26. Love the boat, even though at times I feel overwhelmed at what has to be done to it and how little I know about that. Anyway, notice the deck is looking chaulky. What can I use to remove the chaulk feeling and what kind of wax is there to polish it. I heard about Island Girl treatment. Any good?

chalky deck

I have used meguiars, heavy duty oxidation remover to get rid of that chalk, then follow with meguiars polish and then wax. you probably do not want to use those on non skid surfaces, but I have had great luck with meguirars, and usually get compliments on 1989 h 23, good luck , Mike B

Poli Glow

Paul, Try Poli Glow, I did and it worked great. Paradigm-Products.com. Don't wax your topsides, it will make them too slick for safety. The Poli Glow is the only product I have found of it's type that doesn't yellow with age, and does not make the deck anti-skid slick

What about the glare?

I have used Poly Glow on the sides of the cabin-top with excellent results. The shine make it look almost wet. When I painted the deck of my H33 with Interlux one-part polyurethane, my first coat was right from the can. The sun glare made it difficult to look at the deck. My second coat went on with their flattening agent and non-skid. The results where perfect! So you must look for both non-skid and glare when doing something to your deck. I wax my topsides twice a year.

It's the only way to keep the boat looking reasonably clean under the intense Florida sun, heavy summer rains and the "gifts" from the birds. The hull gets it once each year. Peter S/V Raven
