I have course textured anti-slip over most of my deck and cockpit it and the other areas do not look great at this point. I am not anxious to do a lot of polishing if I can avoid it. I plan to repaint the antislip areas later in the season anyway, but in the meantime I want it to look better. Any recommendations? Thanks. Jim

THE WORKS
Jim, There is a product out there called THE WORKS. I buy it in a 16oz bottle for $1 at the local Dollar General store. It's found where 409, Simple Green and similar household cleaners are. It's a mild acid and I have used it on 3 boats I have owned. H23, Precision 21, and now the H23.5. Excellent results with each boat. Squirt the stained/dirty area with THE WORKS, after it sits for a minute or so, scrub it with a still (plastic) brush. Let it sit (and more if needed) for a few minutes and scrub more. Rinse it off. Reapply if needed. Around here, a boat will get the "ICW mustache" the brown stain at the waterline. THE WORKS takes it right off! I'm serious, this stuff is great and cheap. A 'cleaning lady' told me about it. she uses it on fiberglass showers and tubs. She buys cases at a time. It works for me, Mike

IMHO The stuff used to clean wooden decks is very effective. It is like bleach, so dilute it and spray it on with a garden sprayer, or old spray bottle. Then, power wash with a low psi sprayer. Remember to wear rubber gloves and eye protection.

The best cleaner I have ever found. Star-Brite sells a pint of cleaner that contains oxalic acid plus some other stuff at Wally World(wal-Mart) for 4.99. A tub of Savogran Wood bleach costs 5.50 and lasts about 3 years. Take the powder and sprinkle 2-3 tablesoons in a gallon of hot water.Use a good scrub brush and a sponge and then rinse.Maybe you should use gloves, I don't. Although if you have any cuts on your hands you will definitely know it. It will take leaf stains and polution stains off like magic. I talked to Savogran a few years back and they said you can use on decks and fiberglass boats.

Try 20% bleach in water
Try 20% bleach in water - spray on, take a broom and scrub a bit and hoses off. It Is chaep and the active ingeridient in most claeners and works great.

Anti Skid Cleaner
I tried a lot of different cleaners on my anti-skid. I worked with bleach, oxalic acid, all of that stuff. What I found was spraying a little Simple Green on it (or pretty much anywhere else on the boat), brush it, then wipe it off, is the best, fastest, safest solution. And it's biodegradable.

I used to use a scrub brush with almost all of the above cleaners at one time or another, and would spend hours scrubbing the no-skid. since I got the pressure washer, it's an hour or less, and looks great. A word of caution, be careful around bedding material and seals around ports, ect., as the pressure washer can wash them away quickly. Rob, S/V "Kinship"
