decipher how to mount masthead light

How about making your masthead area larger? Attach a small sheet of 1/8 inch aluminum plate to your masthead off to one side using a couple / three machine screws. Then attach your new light to that sheet. You could also use stainless plate, but it's harder to work with / thread and you really do not need strength. I'd avoid a pole as you don't need any more height for your anchor light. I'll bet a local machine shop would let you look through their scrap bin as all you need is 4 x 4 inches max.

The base of the light was designed to fit a platform that is built into many of not all modern US/spars masts. Not sure about others. I was happy it was a direct bolt on for me. Not sure I what I would have done if not. The picture on the marinebeam site of of my install.

a conversion/adapter plate was my worry. I'll just plan on that being hte method forward and go visit dad's machine shop to get it fab'd. i was hoping there was just something simple online/west marine i could buy.
