I have another question for any in or who know the area. I am wanting to take my golf clubs down there with me...Does anyone know of an anchorage (preferred) or marina near a municipal golf course? I prefer one that allows walkers. I'll do a ggogle search, but was hoping there was sailor/golfer with inside info.!

Golf?

Bio, I can't answer your question, but must sheepishly admit that many years ago I eventually gave up my extremely mediocre golf game. When asked by my mates why I was giving up on golf, I said: "Golfing and sailing don't mix, both take an entire day and I can't do both, so I've chosen sailing, I'm somewhat better at it!" You have disproved my hypothesis. You can do both! Please don't tell my old golfing buddies. :):):)

Florida is full of golf courses but even so more

of golf carts. They try to get you in and out quick so you can go sailing the rest of the day. The only public course I know that allows walking is in Tampa at University of South Florida home of the "The Claw". Walking is not very popular in our long summers due to heat and humidity. It is also not a very fast way of getting away from lightining in the thunderstorms.

Ft. Meyers

Don't know about the golfing, but Ft.Meyers is a wonderful sailing place. Some really nice anchorage places over off Sannibel Island, only a short jump to the open gulf, and not a overly long sail to Key West.

Burnt Store

Burnt Store has a great marina and a golf course just a little north of Ft Myers. Nick
