I am new in town and need some brightwork done . I found someone decent (so I thought) and agreed with him on scope of work, time frame and price (beginning of April). Four times he promissed to start "next week" and never came through. I contacted some other but they seem equally unreliable even with giving their proposal.
What is it what I don't get here? Only the companies who are charging $3000+ for taking the toerail down to barewood, re-applying varnish and sanding and recoating the rest of the exterior teak of my IP37, sending quotes but also telling me they are used to bigger jobs and might get it done when ever they might get to it.Am I so out of touch with reality to think that is extreemly high? If my job wouldn't require so much unpaid overtime right now, I would take a heatgun, scraper and sandpaper to start myself. One more year of "hard labor" and I go cruising and have the time to do it myself.
