Helping friend out on his new to him boat. -1995 Beneteau 393. Back in the water for Spring launch at the dock. AC power on but no DC anywhere. -Batteries are good at +13v. Is there the typical round battery switch somewhre or a main switch/breaker near the batteries? He supposedly has a starter and 2 other batteries. Thanks.

Find the Switches

There should be 2 red switches (positive) and 1 black switch (negative) somewhere. They close (or open) the battery circuits. Horizontal is a closed circuit. Turn them on & you should be golden. Don't turn both red ones off when the engine is running or you will blow the alternator diodes.

Circuit Breaker

Hunter puts Circuit breaker right where the shore power coming into the boat before going to AC/DC panel so maybe some thing similar.

Beneteau usually puts them, in boats that size, just aft of the engine room in the aft cabin. Congrats to him on his new boat. You might suggest that he join us here. :) We can give him some valuable resources to learn about his boat and its electrical systems.

The 393 was produced from 2001 through 2007. Maybe his is a 390? If similar to a 393 electrical layout, the three switches are in the aft cabin on panel above the engine compartment. There is a red (+) for the starter battery, another (+) for the house bank, and a common black ground (-) switch. The setup allows you to isolate the two banks and turn on/off either or both banks.

Thanks all for the replies. I think we will be able to figure this out. Paul, I stand corrected, the boat is a 2005 not a 1995.
