Daysailer Main Sail Boom

Has anyone ever made any kind of an attachment to the top of the mast to the rear of the boom to allow it to be supported at all times? I would like to be able to have the main sail supported as its bigger sisters are. I presently have a homemade A frame that holds the boom at the dock. This is fine but a line from the rear of the boom to the mast top would be great for taking down the sail at sea without losing the boom and sail in the water. Does anyone think this would be concievable with a simple light halyard? I realize it would flap some when the boom was undersail some. Any thoughts appreciated. See other forum "192 Oday for the problem I am trying to solve!!!

boom topping lift

I used parachute shroud cord, with a tiny block and tube cleat at the boom end for adjustment. Here is a picture, but e-mail me and I will send you a bunch of details pictures. roger02@mts.net
