Daysailer III Drain Plugs

I just bought a Daysailer III and have it in the water. My understanding of the drain plugs is that the bilge plug should remain in at all times except when taking the boat out of the water. I assume the cockpit drain should remain open to allow the boat to drain, as from a rain storm while anchored or when taking water over the side at heel. There is apparently no owner's manual to answer such questions, so any knowledge from current owners would be appreciated. Thanks.

Carroll - Like you say, leave the bilge plug in unless you have the boat canted up to drain. The cockpit plug I leave out so that rain wouldn't swamp the boat, but I put it in when I went sailing because the boat would accumulate some water otherwise. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Drain Plug

Won't leaving the cockpit drain plug out while the boat is on the mooring cause water to come into the boat, or are you saying that it will wash in AND out...glub, glub! Thanks,
