Florida friends, I have a quick trip to Florida in a couple of weeks, and since my Catalina 27 is alternately buried in snow and frozen solid, I would love to get out onto the water with my sister for at least a couple hours. Any recommendations of a place to rent a daysailer in the Tampa Bay area? Thanks Roger

There used to be a place in Clearwater

They rented Aquarius 24s, but I don't know if they are still in business. There was also a place on the beach by the Honeymoon Island Causeway in Dunedin that rented G-Cats and Sunfish but I haven't been out that way in years so I don't know if they're still around either. Sorry I don't have better news. Peter H23 "Raven"

Bayshore Boat Club

There is a boat club in Dunedin, on the intercoastal , with easy access to the Gulf, that rents an O'Day 26 by the day. The name of the club is Bayshore Boat Club phone 727-781-5530. the O'Day is a centerboard boat that is good for a casual day sail.

Sailors Wharf

Has day trips in anything from a 29 on up, and St. Petersburg is a great place to visit. http://www.sailorswharf.com/

Sailors Wharf perks...

Did them....liked it. Rented their 32' hunter for a weekend....and given their base at the Vinoy Resort gave us access to the spa, steam, showers, etc.....etc., real nice. Newer boat worked well, (first time that I'd seen a one-line-reef system), took it under the skyway bridge and south on a beam reach...nice run. Overnited at a restaurant/dock about 12 miles south of the bridge and had a fabulous seafood meal.... great weekend.
