Glad we met, Allen.
Your choice of sailing the Pascagoula River today was a good one given the fog out over the gulf. After you headed up the river, the fog moved in thicker than before. Frank Balcer, owner of Sandi's Wings, called me tonight and mentioned meeting you on the water today. I was surprised when learning how far you sailed up the river. Wasn't it a nice sail? While there are some shallow areas to be concerned about, for the most part the river is deep and wide enough to tack when necessary. Don't let Frank know I said this....he's a great guy! Although he has a slip in the harbor (real name is Lake Yazoo), Frank perfers to keep his boat in the marina next to the bridge in Moss Point. If you're in the area again and would like to spend the night at the dock in the harbor, let me know and we'll arrange it with the harbor master. That way you can take your time and spend a couple of days sailing the area. And knowing Sam, who owns the marina where Frank keeps his boat in Moss Point, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you docked there one night. By the way, the Pascagoula River delta is one of the last remaining estuaries of its kind in the US. Conservationists could better explain why it receives the recognition it does. Anyway, it was nice meeting you. If there is anything we can do to make your Pascagoula sailing experience better, please let us know.
