Launched in Gulfport
I launched from gulfport. We launch from Pascagoula when we go to Petit Bois Island. We used to use the Gulf Island National Seashore ramp. The Launch is deep but the channel leading out to Davis bayou is shallow. The last time we used that ramp we couldnt get back because of an unusally low tide. We had to wait untill the next day to pull the boat out.

Ship Isl.
Unfortunately Ship Island is half the size it was before Katrina. Camille Cut is nearly two miles wide now. Nearly all the pines on Round Island, Horn Island, and Ship Island have been killed by salt water intrusion and the winds

After Katrina
I have not sailed in the sound since before Katrina. What's to the storys of hidden keel killers, like school buses refrig trucks and cantainers etc. Last time I was in Gulfport Nov, 2006 nothing had been done to fix the harbor. I really missed sailing out of their and going to cat or ship, I am currently at the JYC on the resorvior. What is the real scuttlebut.

Ms sound / Gulfport
Fema has had crews clearing debris from the sound. I sail the area all the time and have not had a problem with hitting any thing. The harbor at Gulfport has not been rebuilt. The launch is open. They are planning to move the launch to the eastern side of the harbor. The mayor wants to make the harbor some really fancy place. I think his plan will create a "Trophy Park" that will be difficult to use. At one point he was planning to have parking across hwy 90 and have shuttle busses bring people into Jones Park. He wants lots of retail also. He also said he does not want boat trailers in Jones Park. There is no excuse for not having the marina repaired after 2 years.

Storm Debris
We have not made it to Ship Island we seem to run out of time but we have been at Horn Island several times. We have not spotted or seen any storm debris <knock on wood> yet...hoping we don't ever but do see a lot of these crane debris removal equipment on barges coming from the Islands.
