Menu bar

The top of the page menu bar (home, parts ,forums, etc) are obscured by the page when you click on it.
for example if Im in Odayowners.com/ask an oday owner and I want to go to ask all sailors I click on forums and the menu drops down but its hidden behind the page.
Seems that if you start at the home page you have access to the dropdown

Forum Choices

Phil, I looked, but I can't figue out how to have the new site just let me see the latest messages from the individual forums I am interested in. The old site had a page to checkoff the ones I wanted but if it exists here I can't locate it.

Please enlighten us

I just figured out that I can show a variety of post from different period. I chose the last ten days to see how that works out.
So, Rick, how do you get posts for longer periods? Inquiring minds want to know.....

It had no fans and some complaints

It's still here but removed from the posts.

Reputation, in theory, can help us keep a more civil board. When someone gives a good answer give them a positive reputation hit. When someone flames a newbie make it negative. Over time we'll be able to see who's really contributing and who's just here to stir the pot and run.

On the admin control panel I can see who does what and I haven't seen any abuse yet.

BTW, the function is ignored if it's coming from the War Room. Nobody has a clean reputation there. ;)

Phil, how do the post position themself in the list?

They don't seem to move up when updated like them did before.

I'm pretty sure they list the same way: in order of last activity, most recent at the top.

Let me know if you're seeing something else.

Great new site

The new site is very good. I believe that it could be improved with a "key word" search field in addition to the chronological search fields.
Thanks, Liam.

Re: Phil, how do the post position themself in the list?

Have you noticed that the activity has slowed since the birth of the new site? I am not seeing the number of posts that I saw a couple of months ago. have you guys thought about changing it to an easier site to navigate?

I just thought that I would let you know. I have been pretty active, but the site has been used less since the upgrade.

I welcome your thoughts.

Hi Gregg,

Your post got me wondering about activity so I ran some counts from several 7 day time periods:

Posts Time Period
1,513 - 7 days ending 11/14/08

1,119 - 7 days ending 9/14/08 (new site launched 9/24)

1,194 - 7 days ending 11/14/07 (one year ago)

1,367 - 7 days ending 11/14/04 (last election cycle)

In addition to that, I just finished writing a component to link to the owner photo albums (in the user profiles). Since 9/24, less than two months, we users have uploaded 1,581 photos to their albums!

So, arguably, activity is up. Keep in mind though that posting volume is always down from November - January.

Now, regarding navigation... everyone navigates the site in their own way so "easier to navigate" is a relative concept. If you can define some specifics of what that means to you I am more than willing to make the changes.

BTW, would you like those numbers removed from the end of your user name??
