Capeside
Funny you should mention it. I was channel flipping a few years ago and caught some very nice television footage of the Southport/Fort Fisher Ferry (near Wilmington, NC) on one of the channels as I was zooming past. I had just been on that ferry a few days earlier, so I stopped to watch. Turned out to be Dawson's Creek and the kids were heading back to "Capeside" on this ferry. Turns out that Kevin Williamson, the creator of the series, grew up in a small coastal town in North Carolina called New Bern and the show it shot in and around Wilmington. Many of the Capseside locations are recognizable places along the NC coast. I watch the show whenever I'm home on Wednesdays for a chance to see familiar sights used in the series. By the way, on the drive to Oriental from the Minnesot Beach ferry, you cross a very pretty body of water called ... you guessed it, Dawson Creek.
