I have an Oceanis 500. I want to add davits but would like to know if anyone has already done it and how that has worked out. I know it will need to be a custom design but I'm looking for ideas.

I have a B42cc and looking for similar. Found this style of davit on boat for sale (pic attached), which looked OK. My thinking was to brace back to rail (not rigid but with something to absorb and give another brace point - like the rail support on Katomarine pic). Again not same transom shape (42cc vs 50), and depends upon size /weight of tender (mine a blow-up). Just another idea.

Just installed the Kato's at the end of the season, fit perfect and very well made.

I have investigated standard davits (Kato and others) but am not comfortable with the amount of additional structural bracing needed for the stern rails. Access underneath is very difficult and I have an 11.5 ft Achilles with a 20 hp Honda so I have decided on a custom design which will have an stern arch and another support at the forward end of the cockpit (yes - big $$). The existing bimini and tubes will be replaced. The design initially had very long tubes out to the lifting points above the centerline of the dink but I was looking for a way to pull it in and lash it against the existing stern rails. So we are now looking at putting a track on the underside of the tubes so that we can raise the dink and then pull it in against the rails. I've never seen a rig like that and would like to hear some thoughts about such a design. It is either very brilliant or very stupid.

I like SnapDavits....here's a link:

I installed them myself and they work well for me, with an inflatible. The dinghy is stable enough that I don't even need the upper support arms, just the snapdavits on the swim platform.
