I would like to install davits on my Hunter 37C. Has any one our there done so? If you have, could you tell me which davits you placed on your Hunter and whether or not they worked well. My tender is a hard dingy weighing about 125 pounds. Any advise on a type of davits (West Marine - Kato Marine, etc.) would be of help. Good davits are expensive and I want to make the best choice possible. Please help me. Thanks, Art Barnes (you can e-mail me personally at: sailorart@mlode.com) thanks so much.

Use an arch?

Hi Art, my own plan was to use an arch that incorporated the davits. Gene Gruender made his own(http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/Cabana/7414/arch.html) but I was looking at "Tops-In-Quality"(http://www.topsinquality.com/). They also make reasonably priced davits. Another company is in the Link below. The arch provides a place for the other cruising needs: solar panels, wind generator, etc. Let us know what you decide.

Thanks Ed!

Thanks Ed. Long time no chat. Hope things are well with you. I am in the process of buying a dink. I want a hard dingy such as a bauer, Trinka, Fatty Knees, etc. That is why I need to install davits. Kata Marine has some nice stuff at www.katomarine.com. (but seems pretty expensive) Hope all is well with you and your boat. I will look at your site. Thanks so much. Art Barnes

Davits......

Art.. Another source would be Garhauer (www.garhauer.com). They make lifting davits for just over $200 ea, and their products are solid, well designed, and the cpmpany is very well-regarded for integrity. No, I don't own any stock!. All the blocks on my boat are Garhauers, and they are terrific. Also, for more specific input, you might try posting your inquiry to the "Cherubini Forum".

Dave is right.

If you are going to do davits only then Garhauer is definitely a good choice. I have their fiddle blocks, boom vang, and deck organizers. All first rate. And Dave should know, he's "out there" on an H37C. Isn't Avalon on Catalina Island?
