I am in the middle of some major repairs on my p33. I am going to raise my boom so it will clear my head and allow for a bimini top while cruising. I was thinking of using the Hunter design with the traveler on top of an arch and also having davits to lift the dingy. As far as I cal tell this will need to be all custom. Does anyone have any suggestions or the name of a company that could manufacture this arch in the South Florida Area? I would love any criticism of this idea so please speak freely.

Carefull not to put too much

junk in the trunk. It could cause trim problems. It does not take much weight to affect trim. Weight on the ends causes more problems than weight more centered on the boat. I'm not familiar with your type of boat but 33 ft long, lots of large diameter Stainless Steel tubing added up high and far back, dinghy davits, dinghy, outboard motor, gas tank, etc. That stuff can really add up. I have a C350 with loads of room for storage back there but I have had to learn to use restaint in what I pack. That was the reason that I gave up on the idea of dinghy davits. I tow a hard dinghy 14ft long. The marinas were scary at first but I learned to deal with it. When I come in, I raft the dinghy alongside after I slow down at the breakwater. It can be at the stern (usually) sometimes at the bow because I like to back in. It occasionally freaks people out to see a big-ass (13 ft beam at stern) sailboat coming down the fairway backwards with a dinghy rafted alongside. I can turn that 36 ft boat around in a fairway if it is 40 ft wide and that is with the dinghy tied alongside. Propwalk (or poor man's thrusters) is a wonderful thing. If things are really tight I will stop at the fuel dock or anyplace easy to drop off the dinghy before going in.

I will keep the weight in mind,

the boom height and the moving the traveler out of the cockpit is the biggest concern. Perhaps I will worry about the davits at a later time. Even though South Florida is a boating Mecca but the only people I have found so far are extremely expensive ($3000+) and they don’t want to accommodate any of my input or requests. I like to be involved in my boats life and I like to be treated as a person and a customer (remember the time when the customer was right). Thanks.

$3k is probably a reasonable price

I just bought some 1" stainless for a solar panel frame and the cost of the raw materials gave me sticker shock. Then you add in some custom bending, welding, polishing, a few trips to the boat for measuring and installing and before you know it you've spent some real money. Obviously the 1" stuff that holds up my 35 lb panel is not going to work as a foundation for your traveler. You're talking big stuff. Custom big stuff = big $!

Love your suggestions, thank you

I will take all in consideration. Could I ask you to send me some pics of your P33. I am also looking to add a windless and pulpit, what pulpit did you go with or where did you buy it? About the boom, I am 5’8” and when I stand at the helm the boom hits my head, from your posted pic yours looks to be the same height as mine. Who knows. As for the diesel, I have a two year old Yanmar 15hp (hp was posted from manufacturer) I make 5kts with a dirty haul. Lighthouse Point where I sail out of has a very strong current and on bad days I get very slow. I am hoping that after I put it oh the hard and make bottom repairs I will get 8kts. What are your thoughts on this and what diesel did you choose?
