I have just bought a ODay 20, it is a 1974 but it is in good shape for her age. My question concerns and item that is mounted on the tiller and is labled as Davis Industries Tiller tamer. there are two jam cleat located on the transom. I need to know how to use this item if anybody can help I will be very grateful. thank you Don Chesley

You should have a line @ 1/8th to 1/4 inch in diameter...it feed from one cleat through the loop/wheel and then to the other cleat...when you lock the line down, you can tighten the black plastic wheel and this will hold your tiller the the desired position hope this helps

great gadget
I have a tiller tamer on my Oday 23, and it has been the best cheap gadget I ever bought. When the sails are properly balanced (not too much weather helm), the tiller tamer has kept my boat on course without me touching the tiller for 20 minutes. More than enough time to eat a sandwich, visit the head, etc.

I'd recommend anyone who's in the market for a tiller taming device to take a look at this fine product from Canada. It's inexpensive, elegantly simple, beautifully engineered and durable. I've used it for years succesfully. Dick
