Datamarine "Wind Machine"

The wind vane is not moving freely. I took it apart and found that there was a lot of very STICKY oil inside (LIKE MOLASSES BUT CLEAR). This oil was also covering the armature which was the reason it did not move freely as I thought it should.(The last boat I owned was equipped with a SR Instrument wind machine and it moved freely). Is thid normal??. Would appreciate ny info or advise on who to contact. Many Thanks

It's true that the old datamarine is out of business, but the folks who have taken over are excellent technicians. Give 'em a try. They give estimates over the phone, do good work and are available for installation tech support.
