Speed Transducer Test Suggestions
A small amount of water (especially saltwater) will effectively short out the transducer signals. Bilge water could have gotten into the wiring, like the BNC connector. Check cables and dry out connections. If this doesn't work, check further by disconnecting the cable and shorting the transducer input jack, the one that goes to the instrument (not the transducer). Rapidly and repeatedly shorting the inner conductor to the outer body of the coaxial connector should cause the speed display to read other than 0.0. If it does, the main unit (head or base unit) is probably not at fault and the impeller and cables should again be checked for faults. The transducer assembly itself contains internal solid-state components that cannot be field repaired so replacement will be required. If the head or base unit (you didn't say if it was the Corinthian or Link series) does not respond to the shorting of the transducer input, internal head/base problems would be indicated. http://www.dmimarine.com/(508) 564-7497bought by Simrad Jan 2004: http://www.simrad.com/Datamarine made really good equipment so if you can get it repaired, replaced, or otherwise operating, that would be preferable to replacement. The last time I checked transducers were still available from DMI.
