This old unit went from having the occasional conniption fit to showing 300+ all the time. Any ideas what to check?

I, too, have some aging (22 yr old) Datamarine electronics. Lots of stuff to check, like the connections on the back of the unit and the continuity of the wire connecting the sending unit to the readout. You can do this with most digital voltmeters. Most likely you have some corrosion somewhere in the system. If all of this doesn't identify the culprit, you may want to send your unit to DMI (see link) for analysis and/or repair. When my Datamarine units fail (hopefully that will be a long time from now), I'll probably just replace them with more modern stuff.
