Datamarine depth sounder question

I reciently purchased a 1984 Catalina 30 with a Datamarine Corinthian series S 200 DL depth sounder. The gauge was not working when I purchased the boat, but on inspection I found two of the three wires on the back of the unit were pulled out. I replaced the two wire connectors and reconnected them to the terminals. I have also been under the boat to clean the transducer. Does anyone know how to set up this depth sounder ? When I turn it on depending on the position of the switch in the back, I will get a readout of changing numbers or just the letters MSD on the display. Thanks Brian

Not quite sure what MSD means, but

If the transducer is either in air or off soundinge (> 200'), that is the readout that you get from your Datamarine depthsounder. As for setting it up, It's been at least 10 years since I set mine up, and the manual went with the boat in '02. Steve Alchemist C-320
